Sign Up for “Name That Tune!” – 2026
Saturday, February 28th at the Butte Country Club! Doors open at 6PM!
A unique fundraiser, Name That Tune, slates 3-person teams against each other where each team collaborates on a song and writes their answer on a white board. Other details include:
- Ten teams compete in each round; there are a total of three rounds.
- The winning teams from each round compete in the final round and for a $500 purse!
- Teams may be “Bought-Back-In” if they name a song or artist incorrectly and are eliminated.
- Prizes are given for Best Team Costume.
- We need EVENT SPONSORS too! Every penny collected goes toward a lifetime of support for the students of Butte School District #1.
- If you don’t want to participate on a team, we need an audience to help cheer on the teams. Event tickets cost $40 (which includes heavy appetizers), and bottomless Beer Glasses cost $20.

- Three-person teams will collaborate to correctly determine the title or artist of a song played and directed by the judge. The song title or artist will be legibly written on a white board. Any question as to the legibility of a letter in the word will make the answer incorrect. White boards will be concealed until the judge requests that they be presented. A correct song title or artist will advance the team to the next song. An incorrect title or artist will result in the team being eliminated from the competition. (Please see #6 below for a second chance)
- No electronic equipment of any kind will be allowed by team members during the spelling bee. Cheating is prohibited. Violators will be eliminated.
- Teams will have 30 seconds to write the title or artist on the white board. Teams will be notified when 5 seconds remains. When time has expired teams will be asked to lay their markers down, and when directed to hold the white board up for judging.
- Teams will compete in three preliminary rounds with the final team from each round advancing to the final round.
- If a song eliminates all remaining teams in a round, all teams missing that song title or artist will be reinstated.
- Teams can be “Bought Back” into the competition by themselves or anyone in attendance for $50. Bid numbers will be available for those wanting to buy a team back in, auction style. Anyone interested in buying a team back in will have 15 seconds from the time the team has been eliminated to do so. BEF Board members will be available to assist in the buy-back process. Buy-Backs in the final round will be limited to three per team and will cost $100.
