The Butte Youth Leadership Program
What is Youth Leadership?
This program is for incoming Sophomores
Sessions will start in September, meet once a month for approximately 4 hours split between morning and afternoon.
We will excuse you from school but it will be your responsibility to keep up on your homework.
We will meet at locations outside of school such as the Archives and Emma Park Center. We will take tours of businesses and have com-munity professionals participate in panel discussions. There will also be self evaluation and personality tests to help you understand your self better.
There are no academic requirements for admittance to the program but we will verify your attendance record and determine you under-stand the importance a good attendance record.
Selection criteria will be the order in which you return you application along with your responses to the application questions which include what you feel are important issues for the high school and what you want to contribute as a participant.

September— Carmen McSpadden from Leader-ship Institute at MSU con-ducts opening session
October—Government and Law/Justice: Panel discussions and leadership curriculum
November—Manufacturing and Distribution Tours of Montana Precision Products, FedEx Freight and Port of Montana
December—Entrepreneurship: Tour incubator, makerspace, panel discussion with entrepreneurs
January— Education: Visit Montana Tech and panel discussions with various departments
February—Leadership Curriculum and Superfund discussion
March—Large Employers: tour MR and other panelists
April—Healthcare at St. James Hospital Applications are available by hard copy from your teacher, in Mr. Metz’s office or electronically at ButteEducationFoundation.com.
